Indonesia Wake Up

The conversion from analog broadcasting to the digital broadcasting has been done in some country and Indonesia is one of them. To watch tv that use digital broadcasting we need a set of tool which is called set top box. This tool is use to read digital data that sent by digital tv broadcaster to be watch in analog tv.

Referring to this conversion, Indonesia point two local industries to produce set top box. They are PT Polytron and PT Industri Telekomunikasi. The investigation and application of technology board in Indonesia plants that this conversion will be done completely in 2009. This STB will be sold out in Rp 200.000 per set. The Local Technology Board also plans to develop this set top box as USB, so it also can be used in PC.

The first Television’s broadcaster that permitted to broadcast using digital broadcasting is TVRI. It is planned to start in December. It is caused by the government assume that TVRI is national channel.

Some benefits that can be found by this conversion is there will be many broadcasting business. There will be many content industries for communication and for television. Beside that Broadcasting equipment also will appear in bi number.

Beside that if the producing of set top box produced by local industry it will decrease the dependence to other country in technology side.
